Strong ability to build effective teams and to lead people with a history of valuing the contribution of employees in sustainable business practices and protecting the environment.

Danidu

I am a mechanical engineer who was initially a student environmental activist, before deciding that I can only contribute so much to advancing sustainability if it was only a hobby. Since then I have had a decade and a bit long career in sustainability strategy, climate action planning, reporting, energy efficiency and ESD. Most of all though, my passion is working with people, to co-design sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. When I am not working as a Sustainability Engineer, you can find me brining out my Latin dance movies, cooking, painting or practicing laido.

About Alec

After doing an industrial placement in an environmental consultancy as part of my degree at the University of Bath, I wanted to find out more, so took more papers on sustainability sparking an interest in indigenous environmental perspectives. I then did a masters in environmental science at the University of Auckland. My main role is at Kāinga Ora, the New Zeland public housing and urban development agency, where I oversee development and implementation of the sustainability programme. This involves integrating sustainability considerations in investment and planning decision-making processes, developing strategic directions, and piloting interventions.
